Definitions

API (Application Programming Interface)

A set of rules and protocols that allow different software applications to communicate, often used to automate sample sourcing.

Audience

A segment of the panelists, targeted by the client with a survey, defined by specific qualification criteria and quotas. Also refered to as target / target group.

Complete

A respondent with the Complete status.

Completion Rate

The percentage of respondents who fully complete a survey after having started it.

Conversion Rate

The percentage of respondents finishing the survey with a Complete status, out of those invited to the survey.

Cost Per Interview (CPI)

The cost per complete based on survey specifications and supplier blend.

CPI At Launch

Original CPI provided at Launch or CPI entered in operator override section

Average CPI

Sum of (each CPI X each complete) / current completes

Current CPI

Average CPI if not using price override, or current CPI entered in operator override section if using price override.

Projected CPI

(Projected Costs + Current Costs) / Goal Completes

Demographics

Specific characteristics of the targeted audience, such as age, gender, ethnicity, education, income, occupation.

Dropout Rate

The percentage of respondents who start but do not complete a survey.

Feasibility

An estimate of how many qualified respondents are available for a given study.

Field Time

The period of time needed to reach a specific number of complets for a defined audience. Usually measured in number of days.

Filter Audience

The feature allowing to target specific respondents, by switching the toggle to "include" or "exclude", and upload a list of PSIDs.
Choosing "include" will limit survey participation to only those on the uploaded list, while selecting "exclude" will prevent those PSIDs from taking the survey.
Please note that Marketplace will automatically remove any Traffic Channels projects from the list of excluded projects. Those PSIDs are stored in the ‘Parent’ project.

Field Evenly Over Time (FEOT)

The feature limiting the number of completes allowed each day for a quota, to ensure that the maximum number of daily completes won't exceed the same amount for every day the survey is in the field.
FEOT does not guarantee a goal is met.

Hashing

A link security feature that adds an additional encrypted link variable to the redirect to flag link manipulation and other suspicious activity.

Health Metrics

Metrics used to measure the health of a survey

Measures the percentage of respondents registering as a Buyer Drop

Incidence Rate (IR)

The percentage of people in a sample that qualify for a study, based on screening criteria.

The estimated time required to complete a survey, usually measured in minutes.

Qualification

The demographic and advanced targeting criteria defining an audience. Also refered to as profiling or screening criteria.

Quota

A predefined number of respondents that meet specific criteria for a research study.

Quota Throttling

When "On", it will restrict the flow of traffic to quotas so that the number of respondents does not exceed the number of available completes.
When "Off", PureSpectrum will send a metered amount of respondents that is greater than available completes. The extent of the metering will be based on the conversion rate of the survey and will aid help to accommodate for Drop-Offs and low incidence studies.
PLEASE NOTE: The survey tool you use should be taken into consideration to determine the best strategy for you.

Quota-Based Pricing (QBP)

When enabled, CPIs may be independently modified.
NOTE:

In the event of a nested quota, it is auto-selected for the QBP quota.

Once a survey has been launched with QBP enabled, it is not possible to disable QBP or modify qualifications.

Reconciliation

Rejects - used when survey status is: live, paused, or closed.
You will provide a list of transactions that you want to change the status from ‘Complete’ to ‘Reject’.
Accept - used once the survey status is: closed.
You will provide a list of Completes that you want to Accept. All other ‘completes’ will be rejected.
Each respondent transaction is eligible for a single reconciliation. If a transaction was altered before closing, using the Reject method, it is no longer eligible for reconciliation.

Respondent

An individual who participates in a survey or research study.

Redirect Links

After the respondent is finished taking the survey, clients must redirect them back to PureSpectrum, including the [transaction_id] & appropriate redirect status [st] code.

Sample

A subset of a population selected for participation in a research study.

Sample Size

The number of completes needed to be reached for a survey.

Scheduled Launch

The feature giving clients the ability to schedule the field time/launch time of a survey.

Price Override

Allows clients to override the CPI suggested by the platform

Global Price Override

Allows clients to edit the overall CPI

Selective Price Override

Allows clients to edit each supplier CPI separately.

Soft Launch

Soft launch will pause the survey after the estimated number of Buyer Survey Starts has been reached. This number is based on your stated Incidence Rate. If the number of completes is met before this goal is reached,the survey will be paused. The survey may pause due to performance before the soft launch is met.

Screener

A set of initial questions used to determine if a respondent qualifies for a survey.

Supplier

The organisations owning the panels available on PureSopectrum MarketPlace.

Supplier Allocation Throttling

This feature will limit the supplier delivery to the clicks estimated to be needed to achieve the Suppliers’ Allocation.

Survey Router

A system that directs respondents to available surveys based on their qualifications and quotas.

Survey Grouping

The feature allowing clients to exclude respondents that have participated in previous Closed or Invoiced surveys, by entering the previous survey IDs in the Survey Grouping field box, separated by a comma.
You may also add or remove specific survey ids here, if desired.

Test URL

The test survey link, meant to be used for test purposes only, not accessed by real respondents.

Traffic Channels

Traffic Channels refreshes the survey opportunity to suppliers in the PureSpectrum Marketplace by creating a new channel for respondents within the original survey, preserving all data in one place.

Transaction

An attemp of a respondent to take a survey on our platform.

Variable Mapping

Maps the PureSpectrum Transaction_ID variable to what a buyer calls them (ex. PID, ID, RID, etc.) so that a buyer's survey collection system can receive and return them back on our redirect links.
